Sheltered Am I

Sheltered Am I

Sheltered am I under the wings
Of an everlasting Saviour
Who is covering me there with His love
Drawing me nearer and praise God...nearer
For by faith in Him I have been given new ĺife
For I have an everlasting hope
And that faith is soaring continually
In all of the days that I have left here to cope

For what cleansing power that is in His blood
That washes sins away
Which still flows freely in  repentance's  favor
God 's grace being put on display
And every sinner cleansed by such
Sings hallelujah heartily for thàt Cross
As we stand amazed at the Pure Intelligence
That our Saviour has revealed to us...

For in the Cross of Christ we glory
Hallelujah for the Lamb
For in whom we have seen the perfection of edification
Praise God for the Great I Am!
For not one sin was ever discovered
Under the microscope of humankind
For the One who lived with such a Holiness
Was uniquely One of a kind!

I have a minglingship of grace and mercy
Now in my new portfolio
For I've been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
Who washes as white as snow
And at that Spiritual laundromat
That is open twenty-four seven
I find myself nearer to the heart of God
And with a heartbeat closer to Heaven

For where sin abounds...grace much more abounds
With a joy literally out of this world
As the Holy Spirit through our Witness of praise
Keeps our banners of faith unfurled
And the songs of Holy... Holy...Holy
Being sung with thoughts of Christ's untaintedness
Gives reverence still to our Father in Heaven
And of the Saviour Who came here to bless

Yes weeping may endure for a night
But what joy there will be in the morning
For we have a Saviour of such abidingness
That is brighter than any dawning
And in that land of sins disapperance
That land that is fairer than any day
We'll meet the Saviour of our sin' s Deliverance
What a glad and what a glorious Day!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
