Jesus Took Old Death
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

JESUS TOOK OLD DEATH

Jesus took old death
And shook it to the bone
He wrestled it victoriously
And took His trophy Home
The empty tomb was Empty
For He had risen indeed
Became the whole earth's Conqueror
And met the sinner's need

We stand amazed in wonder
What sin debt that we owed
Was paid in full not partial
By Jesus precious blood
Shall we, hold back from serving
Such One who loved us so
The fields are white to harvest
Go forth ye labourers go

Look yonder to your brother
Neighbour, sister, friend
Even your enemies need Him
His love knows no end
The seconds go by swiftly
To minutes, hours, and years
What awesome accountability
Go forth and sow with tears

If no burden liveth
For the sou's of men
Pray it there my brother
Be  the sinner's friend
Friend we have Lord Jesus
Who watches over our day
Love's hearing angels  rejoicing
When sinne's have found the Way

I love it Lord to serve Thee
In any simple task
May I be swift to follow
In whatever way You ask
I know you came to seek
And to save the lost
Here I give my life Lord
Whate're may be the cost

I have fully enlisted
I own no other master
Take my life and let it be
All that You could ask for
You have given companions
Holy Spirit and Prayer
Your blessed Word the Bible
Will give us victories there

O what love constrains us
Sustains us in the fray
Keeps the heart rejoicing
Sets the mind to pray
Redeem the time dear brother
'Tis not the time to shirk
Remember the night cometh
When men no longer work

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
