What Great Adventure

What Great Adventure

I met a Christian the other day,
Asked me if, with them I could pray
I gladly consented, we began then to chat,
They were sharing just where they were at

Told me they couldn't get the victory over sin,
That it happened time and time again.
They went on then, to discuss some more,
Shared how their living, was really poor.

They didn't know just what to do,
To bring them from this state of blue.
They seemed not care about the remark,
That the church of Christ is the Christian's ark.

If not established there in brotherly love,
How can we expect the blessing of God.
This step of obedience, sure foundation for us,
Who place ourselves willingly at the foot of the cross.

With worshipful hearts we come hear the word,
Salt for our savor, light to our world.
If sin dwelleth in us the Spirit will move,
To see we deal with it and thus be approved.

Oh Godly chastisement, how sweet to the soul,
That takes it from Father who loveth us so.
His workmanship in Jesus, His temples we are,
He wishes to use us, His gospel to share.

No judgemental believer, we are to each other,
Encouraging believers, both sister and brother.
Blood bought church, through the death of the Lamb,
Welcomes you brother, Come enter in!

Do not look inward for joy or for peace,
But look unto Jesus, your faith will increase.
Rest, securely in His love , who loveth us so,
Walk by faith in Him new victory's to know.,

Life will be better and brighter you'll see,
What great adventure, Christianity!
Safe in that ark, Christ's chosen bride
Clothed in His righteousness, He as our Guide.

I tell you dear brother, don't be astonished,
Our Lord tells us surely, we are to admonish.
In brotherly love, to encourage one another,
Seek ye a church, and be found in His favor.

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
