Faith's Foundation

Faith's Foundation

I thank you Lord that faith's foundation
Is grounded in the Word
That when we read it and then believe it
Our Salvation is assured
Not trusting at all in our own feelings
For feelings may come and go
But the Word of God abides forever
The Bible tells me so...

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness
By the father of lies
The way that He answered Satan back
Through God's Word was His sure reply
By God's Word creation began
And by His Word it still holds fast
Though Heaven and earth may pass away
 His Word shall forever last!

Everybody will be going up one day
The Bible talks of two Resurrection's
One group going will be Heavenbound
The other eventually in another direction
The Book of Life has the names written down
Of those who have trusted in Christ
The other book that's open will have the record of deeds
Of those things that were done in our life

What criteria in that Word
For by it we'll be judged one day
Men may mock it while here on earth
But Heaven has the final say
How unequipped has man become
Yet boasts of his educational finess
For whomsoever robs God of His glory
Shall reap a harvest of duress!

Where is the Cross in your memory bank
How significant is it might I ask
Or are you determined to do your own thing
Leaving off your soul till the last
Don't let Satan deceive you friend
His deception powers are great
Even though he may appear as an angel of light
Don't let him determine your eternal fate

He still comes with that garden voice
Yea hath God said...said he
And man still questions the Word of God
In regards to being life's final authority
But God in great love has given us a hope
A hope that is steadfast and sure
That if we would but repent and believe in Christ
Our eternal home will be assured!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

Gospel of John chapter 5 verses 28,29 King James Version

Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth...those who have done good, to the Resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the Resurrection of condemnation...
John 5:28,29

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
