May the Chief Concern

MAY THE CHIEF CONCERN

May the chief concern of my heart
Be to live for You each day
And find a quiet place of rest
Where I can effectually pray
And leave the distractions of this world
And cleave to You my God
Where once again Your saving grace
And mercy are understood

That how for sin You humbled Yourself
And became a lowly man
And lived amongst Your created beings
Though God...the Great I Am!
And gave us faith to truly believe
And know Thee through the Son
God in Christ reconciling the world
Saved by the Crucified One

Time stood still at Calvary
As Your flesh was pierced by nails
Mocked beyond all comprehension
As those about Thee railed
And loudest were those drops of blood
Upon that sacred spot
As earth received the droppings of
The "Holiest"...Forget me Not!

Thee...the Fine Rose of Sharon
Thorn crowned with disdain
Hanging with a wound pierced side
Lord Jesus is Thy name!
The Cross became our Deliverance
Soon the grave received it's Host
Three bearing witness of Your soon arising
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

I came...I saw...and bear witness too
Lord Jesus is alive!
And by believing on His Word
I will...eternally survive
In genuine repentance and faith I came
I came just as I was
And now I live rejoicingly
To own His worthy cause

Now the chief concern of my heart
Be that others know Him too
And find in the Lord Jesus Christ
His Salvation through and through
And how forgiveness for our sin
Is actually close at hand
For He is worthy to be praised!
How worthy is the Lamb!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
