He Raised the Bar
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

HE RAISED THE BAR

He raised the bar of righteousness

When He came as the Son

None other could reprove of sin

As He the sinless One

Not even an old testament saint

Could manifest that Glory

For in the Son was God revealed

What blessed gospel story

The righteousness of sinful man

All as filthy rags

All falling short of God's glory

Needing spiritual dry cleaning tags

But did they see it...no they didn't

Blind to their unbelief

They continued on in pride and arrogance

Refusing the Saviour's relief

But did He stop at man's refusal

To recognize God's Son

With face set steadfast like a flint

Our Lord continued on

The cross before and the joy

He knew His future plan

He would rise up from the dead

For He is RESURRECTION!

Now a righteousness by faith

Above all works of man

Could be had by every believer

Who trust the great I AM

The Holy Spirit giving record

Yes. .this one has believed

They've repented of their sin

And Jesus Christ received

He our advocate with the Father

For us interceeding

Ever present help at hand

To give us what we're needing

Lord Your righteousness. ..behold!

Behold that Lamb of God

Took me from unrighteous standing

And placed me where He stood!

And I'm amazed I really am

When I look back at sin

And wondered what anazing grace

Praise God I now know Him

And never would I  reconsider

That decision making day

Praise God I trusted Jesus Christ

Who washed my sins away!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
