COMPOUND INTEREST

Compound interest is our gain
When witnessing for Christ
We plant, we water, God gives increase
Our reward is very nice

We see a life that God has touched
That has true transformation
A living testimonial to
Our Lord's So Great Salvation

A steadfast walk and obedience
A shining light for sure
A burden for the soul's of men
A work amongst the poor

No make believe facade we see
But known amongst the brothers
This indeed is a life that's changed
That serves to live for others.

There he sits and there he sings
A song of the soul set free
And listens to " Thus saith the Lord"
Here am I, send me

What a blessing to behold
A life that God has changed
To see the look upon the face
That He has rearranged

There's a joy, no doubt about it
He has been redeeemed
Now He lives in serving others
By compound interest's means.

Hallelujah! What a Saviour

Written after listening to the life testimony of a friend who shared at church how the Lord had used me as a channel in his life as a young man.   I can only Praise God for the faithful Pastor who loved souls and put that burden in my heart as well.  Compound interest indeed!  Incidentally, he has been saved for over thirty years and continues to live for the Lord. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
