WHILE WHISTLING

While whistling on a job

Just few days ago

A fella stopped and commented

You must love your job so

I said your wrong my friend

Happiness is not what you do

True happiness  is really found

In who you know

If you know the Lord

And He lives now within

Your happiness is the result of which

Christ died for my sin

The job it doesnt matter

I'm happy anyway

Twenty four seven Christ is here

That sure makes my day!

Now he was set to thinking

What's he talking about

What joy around is this

I haven't heard about

This is now a bonding

When I see him again

My happiness a habitat

Because I'm born again!

The joy of the Lord our strength

Get that whistle working

You may start a revival fire

In a heart that's hurting

If you can't whistle sing

For we've a story to tell

Spread glad tidings everywhere

Christ can save from hell!

Don't be ashamed to whistle

Don't be ashamed to sing

This world needs a dose of joy

Remedy for everything

Merry heart doeth good like medicine

A prescription from God's word

Given by the Great Physician

Jesus Christ our Lord!

Practice every morning

Let those joy bells ring

Take your choice of which to do

Whistle or to sing!

Then header to the market place

Your place of employ

Let them see your new found strength

They may embrace your joy!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
