There's More To The Meaning Of The Manger

There's more to the meaning of the manger
Than what literally meets the eye
When we just give it a casual thought
A deeper truth passes by
Imagine a birth that was heralded
To shepherds by angels above
It must surely have been of significant importance
For it was ordained by God

A virgin birth...Hallelujah!
Without a sin nature born
A birth that was one of a kind
Definetly not of the norm
And prophesied in ages past
To be earth's greatest Present
For for the Salvation of lost souls
The Lord Jesus Christ was sent

We don't have many references
To the whole of our Saviour's life
But enough is given for us to believe
How we can obtain eternal life
And a  character like none other
Who lived with such servant hood
That every action He did in this life
Was totally for our good

As He walked and lived amongst men
He brought such radiance
For He was the Light of the world
This was not all by chance
For He knew of the Cross before we knew it
And He didn't hold back at all
But set His face as a flint on His mission
To be obedient to Calvary's call

Yes Calvary covered it all
Where sin had finally met its match
And was dethroned from its effectiveness
To hold us to the mat
And on that count of three days
His body showed life again
And still we celebrate Christmas
For it's all because of Him!!!

What is your greatest celebration
That gives you some bragging rights
Ours is our boast in Jesus Christ
Who can turn darkness into light
For we can raise a Hallelujah
And keep that note in tune
For guess what?!!!... our Messiah!
He will be coming back soon!!!!....

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
