My Car

"Justa thinking"!.. I am amazed at how many times I have been blessed in fellowship with God on road trips.. Often driving alone seems to give you the quietness and serenity for thought and prayer.. I have had many such occasions to experience it for myself.. Radio turned off and heart tuned into God.. There have been wonderful times alone with Him.. A lot of important decisions have been made and I have felt the presence of the Lord during the many miles.. Thank you Lord... Your car can be your place of worship! Have you thought of it as such.. It doesn't automatically happen and it isn't standard procedure... every pun intended... You must decide to pray and use your vehicle as a place of solace.. Just you and God.. Wonderful... Begin your enjoyment with your car today!

My Car

My car has been my meeting place
Oftimes with me and God
Where He's spurred me on in faith
Or brought the chastening rod
Precious are those memories
Many miles of prayer
Both hands on the steering wheel
He has met me there

Almost in a daze I am
At those particular times
Hymns are placed upon my heart
Poems and their rhymes
Joy surrounds the atmosphere
I'm saved and don't I know it
Do I ever have a story to tell
And Lord may my life show it

Bound I am for the promised Land
Confirmed by the Holy Spirit
Praise God I listened to His Word
Until finally I heard it
There the declaration stood
I believed and I was saved
Now I had true Fatherhood
And victory over the grave

Now I'm filled with hallelujah's
Rejoicing in my soul
My spirit lifted to the Heaven's
For Jesus made me whole
So whether you're a travelling man
Short distance or afar
You can have a worshipful time
Even in your car!

About the Poet
I came to know the Lord as my personal Saviour in January of 1972. I was married on Oct 21,1966 to my wife Linda who also loves the Lord. We have ten children and now twenty-four grand children. In Aug 2012 we got the announcement of the birth of our first GREAT grand child (a baby girl). I was thrilled to find others of like precious faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I am presently living in Champion, Alberta, Canada but we are originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. That is where the poem Canadian Tribute to America was birthed. One Sunday as I walked across the city on my way to church I came to the top of a hill and looked across at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After watching the events of the Sept 11 tragedy it was weighing on my heart and mind and the Lord gave me these words. We came to Calgary and when my oldest daughter saw this poem she said, Dad, whats this? and I said a poem and she replied Dad, thats not a poem , thats a song and she then went to the piano and began to sing and play it. The result of which turned into a song entitled, A Canadian Tribute to America which she recorded on CD. garyjamessmith2005@yahoo.ca
