Devotion

Making converts to my way of thinking –
Is that what God wants me to do?
Devotion to Jesus without shrinking
Means no carbon copies of me or you.

Touched by the Spirit – see who Jesus is.
He’s the source of my devotion –
Not my devotion to church or causes –
Things that bring attention or commotion.

Jesus, help me love you passionately.
When I’m treated as a door mat,
Help me remain with You devotedly
Through ridicule as one whose name is spat.

It’s who I am to Him that means way more
Than doing “for” Him now and then.
Being true, loving others from my core –
His love, through me, the Holy Spirit’s win.

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
