Musings

An old lady sits down to rest
Thinking of days gone by
When with all her might she’d invest
Give that “old college try.”

She worked with gladness all day long
Then cooked for family.
She even hummed and sang a song
With gladness, even glee.

Back then the days were just too short
To get all the work done.
Some plans she’d just have to abort.
The couch and some rest won.

She’d wash and clean from morn ‘til night
Even plant a garden.
She’d read and pray -God gave His light-
Trusting God for pardon.

She wonders where all the time went
While she worked at “nitty-gritty.”
God keeps and guides while in “this tent.”
There’s times it “ain’t pretty.”

Now she does one job for the day
Then gladly sits to think
Of how she might help in some way
A life not “in the pink.”
