Questions

Does it get cold in Bethlehem?
Was the stable clean that night?
Did others stay there on a whim
While outside the stars shone bright?

Did they know who that baby was?
Did most people have a clue?
Why were the shepherds told that night
By God’s angels quite a few?

Why was Herod allowed to kill,
Trying to prevent God’s cause?
Why is evil allowed today?
Why do some give it applause?

All these questions my mind does ask.
Mankind chooses to disobey.
We want what we want here and now -
Choose to walk in our own way.

God loves us with a perfect love.
Why can’t we all believe it?
In love, He gave all He had to give
To save each one from The Pit.

When I recall what Christmas is,
I bow to humbly adore
The Lord Christ born in Bethlehem,
As the shepherds did before.
