Our Calling

Our Calling

In the light of our future - persevere.
May He count us worthy of our calling -
Ev’ry gracious purpose of goodness here.
May He never find us just here lolling.

Praying for others can be our calling.
It doesn’t have to be some grand project.
On my own, failure can be appalling.
God’s leading – Christian guidance – that’s the object.

This Christian life we have is not passive -
Not just being open to whatever.
God asks us to take the initiative,
Act in faith because He’ll fail us never!

“Christ calls service what we are to Him –
not what we do for Him. – Oswald Chambers

2 Thessalonians 1:11 (Amplified Bible)

“With this in view we constantly pray for you, that
our God may deem and count you worthy of (your)
calling and (His) every gracious purpose of goodness,
and with power may complete in (your) every particular
work of faith (faith which is that leaning of the whole
human personality on God in absolute trust and
confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness.)”

Alexander Souter, Pocket Lexicon of the Greek
New Testament.

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
