Still Trying to Get it Right

“Love one another even as I have loved you.

Then all men will know that you are My disciples.”

He’ll pour His love into our lives – this holy glue-

If we humble selves and follow His example.

Jesus washed their feet and said, “Do as I have done.”

In that saying, He ordered towels for us all.

If we’d follow Him, servanthood’s not to be shunned.

He is Head of the Church till the last trumpet call.

Each and ev’ry one of us is expendable.

We preach not ourselves, but Christ and Him crucified.

He and He alone is the One commendable.

Christ and that servant’s towel can be our true guide.

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
