How Do We See Church?

How do we see Church?

Do we see church in consumerist terms?
One stop shopping – therapeutic – fill-ups?
Is it just about our wants and concerns,
Confirmation of beliefs without trust?

Christ is the Head of the Body, His Church.
Why would I choose to be detached from that-
To go on my own – always on a search
Without members of the Body to chat?

God’s incomparable power is seen
In His Word as we read and believe it.
It is possible to know what it means
To have forgiveness of sin – receive it.

True - believers may suffer with great dread. –
The Body of Christ will always have scars.
Since we’re His – the world will despise instead
And may see us as “pickles” stored in jars.

Let us all rejoice and be glad in Him!
