Chosen

Jeremiah was not born to some grand family.
His father was just a country preacher.
He was prophet midst hard times in Israel's history.
King after evil king were bad teachers.

Israel's citizens had no moorings for their lives
So, naturally, they went their own ways.
Idol worship, human sacrifice were on the rise.
Then God's judgment scattered them and amazed.

Jeremiah obeyed when God called him to the task.
That job went on and on for forty years.
He wept for people and the conditions God unmasked,
This prophet who is known for all his tears.

He did not feel adequate for this hard assignment,
But purposely obeyed God anyway.
God proved sufficient for Jeremiah's encouragement.
He'd pray, tell the message and again, pray.

God knew him and set him apart before he was born,
And the same may be true for each of us.
His promises are true altho' some may laugh and scorn.
The I AM will rescue with blessings plus!!
