Appropriate Fear

Does faith grow when life is easy?
Possible but unlikely –
In “winter” God remembers us.

Does faith grow when life is fearful?
It’s possible and likely.
Amid threats God remembers us.

“Ostriches” with heads in the sand?
World collapsing around us –
We have so much to lose we fear.

Is there a mystery in hope?
How will our God intervene?
That is a thing we do not know.

But do we know where we will land?
Hope will ground us IN our fear.
If our world should destroy itself,
The God of hope raises to eternal life!

“I will trust and never be afraid.” Is 12:2
“But what time I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalm 56:3
