Dreams on God's Altar

Dreams on God's Altar

Lord, make me less like Jonah and more like Jesus.
Lord, rend the heavens and come down.
Help me make myself available without fuss
So that You get the glory and I , no renown.

I don't want to run away from you like Jonah.
I'll take my dreams and lay them down
On Your altar, Father, amid Your Shekinah.
Help me to want your perfect will more than a crown.

Lord, I don't want to avoid the God that I serve.
I don't want to know that struggle.
When circumstances arise, Lord, give me the nerve
To reject the wrong - run to you on the double.

Lord, You are in control of the storms of my boat.
You intervene and I trust You.
Don't let my pride block the way - keep my boat afloat.
I now turn to You with no hope in self rescue.

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
