For This Time

What shall I do with the time I’m given?

Should I just pine for times past,

Or yearn for a more pleasant trip to heaven,

That hard times as this won’t last?

Jesus prayed that we’d be kept from evil,

Not be taken from the world,

That we’d witness, be to the task equal

Although Satan’s darts are hurled.

Christ was born, died in poverty, disgrace.

He knew it was all worthwhile.

He hears ev’ry prayer as tears stain the face.

He lives within mile to mile.

Lord, help me make the most of time given

And not wishfully thinking

That something better is bound to happen

While lives in sin are sinking.
