Transformation

A life that’s compellingly attractive,
A life that’s been changed by the cross,
A life where the Holy Spirit’s active,
Considers earthly gains but loss.

What the world may call sickness, God calls sin.
“Just the way I am”, “can’t help it,”
“The craving’s inside and I just can’t win.”
“I’ve tried and tried, but I can’t quit.”

I can’t be proud standing beside the cross.
My heart and my life must be changed.
Crucify the “flesh”, counting all but loss.
Then desires will be rearranged.

Although I’m in Christ, “flesh” is still active.
These things I should not tolerate.
Nail it to the cross…don’t be reactive.
Let it be one less “on my plate.”

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
