Deer Moss

I am a smallish lichen
Growing in cold woods
Waiting for the deer to come
As a reindeer should.

I have to live with alga
Can’t grow on my own,
But when we get together
Food for reindeer's  grown.

Deep winter does not kill me.
I grow the best then.
I look like the greenish moss
In cold wooded glen.
