Genuine Love

Genuine Love

In real love, patience will be evident,
Generosity, not envy, its bent.
Boasting advertises one’s emptiness,
But growing love begets forgetfulness.

Courtesy - oil in my relationships,
Does no recording of past wrongs or slips.
Real love’s joy is robbed by cynicism.
There’s no delight in anyone’s schism.

Love is consistent and never gives up,
Not just occasional, but my life’s cup.
I’m just a beginner in learning love.
Lord, fill me and renew me from above.

1 Corinthians 13

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
