My Prayer

Oh, how I need God’s love and Christ’s patience

Especially when tired of the battle.

Only God can work – move in my conscience.

I’ll ask Him to give me what I don’t have.

I can’t know His love ‘til I’ve tasted it.

Is it just a creed or experience?

Is my heart strangely warmed by Holy Writ?

Does His love warm my heart, thus to change me?

Am I with just a shallow faith content?

Oh Lord, direct my heart into your love.

Help me to live the Gospel,  to present

Through my daily life to a dying world.

May I gaze into the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Look – to make use of the sense of sight – to see

Gaze – to look intently and steadily as in wonder or expectantly.

About the Poet
I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 11 - that was almost 70 years ago as of June 2015. My husband and I had been married for 54 years as of March 2010 before he went Home to Heaven, and we have one son & daughter in law and 3 grandchildren.
