A Rare Day in Spring

A Rare Day in Spring

All the trees' new leaves fluttered in the wind

As if trembling before a fearsome storm.

God’s miraculous renewal is here –

The crocuses and jonquils are in rare form!

The sun hid itself for most of the day.

Banks of dark clouds threatened rain all morning.

This is spring time marching toward summer –

Blustering storms descend without warning.

It’s May, then June – flowers seem to love it!

On windy days, leaves turn backs to the sun.

Finches and cardinals sing in my yard

Each heralding the season – so much fun!

I’m wishing this day could last much longer.

The sky, swept clean, is a rare azure blue.

Could I soak up sun to last all winter,

I’d try it today for both me and you!
