On My Knees

Is prayer no more than worry on my knees-
Dear Father, and ending, Amen?
They’re hurting me, so won’t you stop them, please?
They’re doing it over again.

I want this great big burden off my back.
I’ll spell out my “what ifs” to You.
I know there’s no ability You lack.
Please tell me, Lord, what I’m to do.

This old world is harsh with so much conflict.
I need Your peace, peace with others.
Those shock absorbers from my “Mechanic”
The pothole of conflict smothers.

A tree that grows where it is hard to grow
Grows slowly but that makes hard wood.
Its roots grow deep to get to water’s flow.
Only The Master makes it good.

I know that God is with me and for me.
I’ll trust my life into His hands.
The great love of my God who hears my plea
Will guide me through these sinking sands.

Philippians 4: 6 & 7
