Discontentment

Discontentment

If I don’t have all that I want
I’ll not enjoy what I do own.
All that I want just seems to taunt.
I’ll sit right here and moan and groan.

Who’s the author of discontent?
Do I follow my own desires-
Shop until my money is spent?
Some have more, so I’ll “feed the fires.”

There was growth for Paul’s contentment -
Saw progress and growth over time,
Followed God’s will as life was spent.
In God’s will there’s rhythm and rhyme.

Savor the real blessings of Christ.
He is sufficient and supreme,
In all situations - sufficed.
Make that my aim and my life’s theme.

Keep free from the love of money
And be content with what I have.
It’s a command from God , honey!
To be content is godly salve.

If God is not enough for you,
Nothing will ever be enough.
Make comparisons quite a few?
Think of Heaven -  life’s not so tough.

Hebrews 13:5  Amplified Bible

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”
