How Do I Live Now

How does one live when the person God gave

To be life’s mate goes to Glory?

What do you do when your grief comes in waves,

Missing him and his good stories?

Think of the good times we had together

Enjoying nature – all God’s gifts.

The times we traveled – of these I’d rather

Think about than all our life’s “cliffs.”

He loved to laugh – didn’t want us to sorrow,

Even joked with his hospice nurse.

Now I look forward to that bright Morrow

And read The Word – chapter and verse.

Family, neighbors and friends now mean more

In this weary, missing him time.

We face each day with a heart sick and sore,

But glad he’s in Heaven sublime.

We’re glad He’s all healed – no short breath or pain.

I’ll try to live now as he told me.

We talked about it and he spoke plainly-

Just think of our grandchildren three.

Now some time has passed and my life goes on.

Others just like me are missing

People in their lives , whom they've loved, are gone.

These have become a real blessing.

As God draws us closer to each other

We begin to look outward, too,

Into the lives of Fathers and Mothers

Investing in their children new.
