I Needed to Return to My First Love

I Needed to Return To My First Love!

As a child, I was raise in the Christian way.

I would read my Bible about every day.

At the age of 5, I asked Jesus to come in.

I was happy and was now “born again!

I wanted more of God and read

 the Bible many times.

And memorized many verses

 in my mind.

But as the years went by and I got “old.”

My love and passion for Christ

 became “cold.”

I lost my “first love” for Christ

and wasn’t concerned.

But something deep inside of me

 one day “burned.”

I felt his Spirit tugging at my life and heart.

I knew that on my knees was

 a good place to start.

I cried and asked for God’s forgiveness…

His love for me is strong and endless!

My love for Christ once more began to grow!

He truly is the best friend I’ll ever know!

The love he has for me is secure

and binding!

An everlasting life with him

 is worth finding!

I’m so glad with the choice I’ve givin’!

He’s with me each day I’m livin’!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
