It's Hard to be a Pastor...
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

It's Hard to Be a Pastor...

It's hard to be a pastor and to preach
what God's word says.
To speak against sin... to "preach it like it is."

They're expected to preach God's uncompromised word.
But if they preach like they should...
a "hornet's nest is stirred."

So much depends on what
they preach and say.
If they're "not careful..." they may drive people away."

What does it mean to be a
real minister of the gospel?
I read about the early church apostles.

They preached the boldness of God
in his majesty and power.
Boldly proclaiming Christ into the midnight hour.

I wonder what they would think of the
churches in this country.
We have it so "good." We're satisfied with having "plenty."

We give our pastors a salary...
and tell them to "preach."
Yet, whom does the true gospel of
Christ actually reach???

What we often hear is a " watered down version"
Just another Sunday. Just "another sermon."

We need pastors who aren't afraid to speak the truth!
Whether they preach Matthew, John,
or the book of Ruth!

We... as Christ' body, must come together
for a common cause.
Seeking to obey God and his righteous laws!

We must daily seek and feed on
HIS word... The Bible!
If we don't... we're just serving religion... and a false idol!

Thank you Jesus for the pastors who seek to be holy.
And aren't afraid to speak of God's power and HIS glory!

These are the one's who needn't be ashamed.
To preach the holiness there
is in Jesus' name!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
