Do I Still Enjoy Jesus?

Do I  Still Enjoy Jesus???

As a young child, I grew up with what I had.

There were times when I was happy and sad.

I didn’t have many of the conveniences of today.

But I’m thankful that my family took time to pray.

We had each other.  This was to be expected.

There was a love for God that we respected.

It was the simple things that mattered the most.

Whether there was food on the table, or “burnt toast.”

As I look back and think of how things used to be.

I ask myself; “what has really happened to me?”

Do I still have a passionate love for family and God?

Does an “old fashioned way of living,” seem quite odd?

Am I content with the beauty of Jesus as I once did?

Is Christ being honored in the way that I live?

Is Christ the invited guest into my heart and home?

Do I call on him when I’m feeling afraid and alone?

Please Lord Jesus come and speak to my heart.

I want to take this moment as a “brand new start.”

I want to serve you with a daily love and compassion.

No matter if to many, this seems “old fashioned.”

I want there to be Holy Ghost fire deep inside.

Help me to be humble and take away my pride!

This same Jesus I served and honored as a boy…

Is the same one who brings unspeakable JOY!

With Christ, I’m once again on a “heavenly team.”

He’s my life, my righteousness…

 My everything!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
