Jesus, When I Said 'I LOVE YOU..."

Jesus, When I Said I Love You…

When I went to tell Jesus; “I love you.”

He told me; “why I don’t even know you.”

I hung my head.  I was so ashamed.

I had no one else, but me to blame!

I thought of myself as a “good church member.”

There were even Bible verses I remembered.

I gave money when the offering came around.

I even visited others, from the other side of town.

I showed up for many of the Bible studies too.

I was careful not to break “the church rules.”

In spite of all of my faithful church attendance…

A relationship with Jesus?  I had no remembrance.

I didn’t really know the savior that I confessed.

My spiritual life was in a terrible mess!

I didn’t really love the one who had died for me.

Was I ready?  If he were to come for me?

I took the time and repented of my wayward sin.

I wanted to know what it meant to be BORN AGAIN!

Now, there’s a relationship with Jesus I never had!

I now have unspeakable joy!  I am so glad!

I love and serve Jesus like I never done before!

He means so much to me!  And so much more!

The words; “I love you Jesus” is what’s now spoken.

From a heart that is yielded and broken.

Thank you my Lord, for giving me

 such an assurance…

That loving and serving you,

is “eternal life insurance!”

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
