I'm Not the Same Person (I Used to Be)

Lord…  What is happening to me?

I’m not the “Christian”

 that I used to be…

The Holy Spirit used to speak

 through me with a conviction.

Now, my life’s entangled

 with a “deep addiction.”

I’ve gone to church…,

And want to “be free.”

But no one seems to

 pay attention to me…

What should I do Lord?

 I need a Godly direction.

I need your help and the right

 kind of correction…

I need to be the kind of

 Christian I once was…

 I come to you now… Jesus…

 Just because…

Because I worship you and

your majestic name!

With you in my life…

 Things won’t be the same!

You bring honor and love to

 this broken life of mine.

And your promises have

 stood the test of time!

Behold!  I am a new creation.

Old things passed away!

As I invited Jesus to be

lord of my life today!

His word has renewed my mind

And  brought joy…  Like no other!

For Jesus is the same today...

  Tomorrow...  And forever!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
