My Great Grandmother...

I remember long ago visiting

 my great-grandmother...

How I loved her cooking...

“'twas sweeter than butter.”

As I spoke with her,

there was a sparkle in her eyes.

She loved Jesus... Was gentle

 and very wise...

I could almost feel the love

 she had for great-grandfather.

Their love was as pure

 as the purest water.

Their commitment to each other

and God was plain to see...

I could almost feel their love

 come all over me!

That day when my

great-grandmother died.

At 13, I laid in my bed

with sorrow and cried.

I know that one day... In heaven...

 We'll meet again...

How the words of excitement

 shall begin!

May my life be an example

of my great-grandmother.

One of trusting God and being

 kind one to another.

Thank you great-grandmother

for the love I seen in you.

You were a Godly inspiration...

And I thank HIM for YOU!!!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
