More Precious Than Gold
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By George David Denson
Other Poems by George David Denson

There is a tale told in yonder days of old,
About a man who lived selflessly.
And valued faith and life
Much more precious than gold.

He came upon the scene of a crime thought surreal,
He stopped to help the victim,
Beaten, wounded and bleeding
Found to be so precariously ill.

A Priest, A Levite had come before him,
Giving the victim a parting glance.
The Good Samaritan knelt in the dirt road and prayed,
"O Lord, give this dying man a second chance."

He bandaged the dying man's wounds,
Pouring on oil and wine.
The Priest, The Levite seemed not to care,
For they said, "We have not the time."

Each day we see victims of crime, violence,
War and greed on our T.V's,
The Priest, The Levite, The Good Samaritan --
Which one are we?

Our solitary choice will be based
Upon the vaules we strongly hold.
May we all cherish each person's life --
MUCH MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD!
