Mister Rogers: A Jesus in Disguise

It takes a village
to raise children,
A former first lady passionately wrote --
It takes a caring neighborhood
to raise children,
A children's TV-Minister everyday spoke.
Mister Rogers' neighborhood
was open to all children,
rich or poor, smart or weak,
well or ill --
Through the teachings of Mister Rogers
the words of Jesus
to let the children come,
clearly speaks to our hearts still.
Mister Rogers, a minister,
a friend, a teacher,
a Jesus in disguise --
A legacy of love
for all children,
declaring with compassionate care,
that many adults, lovingly,
are on their side.
