Beyond The Road To Baghdad
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By George David Denson
Other Poems by George David Denson

On the wind blown desert road
to Baghdad -- American and
British troops carefully move on;
To dethrone a cruel and corrupt
regime, that many say is Hitler's
Third Reich wickedly cloned.
The road to Baghdad
is dusty, dangerous, and
not easily defined;
For Iraqi freedom, and our security,
many soldiers have and will continue
to lay their life on the line.

In another century of time,
St. Paul admonished us all
to give our lives as a living sacrifice;
To do this in our newly born
century -- is to make with fervor,
intercessory prayer, a militaristic way of life.
This road of battle is daring,
desirous, but again,
not easily defined;
Onward Christian soldiers --
when we bow our knees in prayer
for the safety of our troops,
and world peace, we too
have put our lives on the line.
