War and Peace: A Poem
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By George David Denson
Other Poems by George David Denson

War will soon become our casting lot,
Laying upon our trembling hearts;
Like a wounded soldier,
Lying upon an old ragged army cot.
Peace, peace will become
Our soul's most fervent plea;
As bombs, missiles and bullets
By both sides are soberly flung.
A cycle of our history that sadly prevails,
War and peace, peace and war --
Casting the promised heaven of a new century,
Into old, forgotten, blood stained prison cells.

At the fork in history's road again,
War or peace, peace or war;
We must bow our knees and pray for peace --
Before the wings of another war
begin to painfully soar!
