In the Eye of the Storm

In the Eye of the Storm

We had never been
In the eye of a tropical storm.
Destiny was on our side,
As Isadore came on to Alabama's shore.

My wife and I had to travel
Down South Interstate Sixty-Five;
Unknown to us,
We were about to experience,
A most delightful, unforgettable surprise.

Dark clouds, strong winds, and heavy rains,
Had followed us each mile of the way.
Suddenly -- no rain, no wind,
And the dark swirling clouds begin to roll away.

Blue skies and an awesome sense of calm,
We now found ourselves in the eye of Isadore's wrath.
An appreciation of nature's beauty and fury,
And a heart-moving feeling that we knew would soon pass.

As quickly as we drove in,
We drove out of Isadore's eye.
Dark clouds, strong winds, and heavy rains,
Replaced the exhilirating joy of the clear, blue sky.

Life has its dark clouds, strong winds,
And its heavy rains upon our shores.
Yet, one thing is for certain,
If our faith and trust is in Christ --
His abiding presence in our heart,
Always, keeps us in the calm eye of the storm.
