Love in Sandals and Sneakers

 

Love God with all your heart,
soul, mind and strength --
Jesus of Nazareth daily taught;
Love your neighbor as yourself,
for you both are very special --
Mister Rogers' love theme,
our hearts joyfully caught.

Two lovers of life and children,
one walked in dusty sandals,
the other in time-worn sneakers;
Both were sons of God,
one begotten, the other adopted,
each, a Master Teacher.

Let us walk in their shoes,
of compassion,
faith, hope and love;
So we can bless ourselves
and our children --
with the highest blessings from Heaven above.

About the Poet
I am 73 years old and have not written poetry in these past many years For my wife of 73, my daughter of 50 and my son, 44 in the Army National guard I write this poem in faith but also with tear.
