Painted Leaves
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By George David Denson
Other Poems by George David Denson

Autumn, it is poetically said,
Is that time of the year;
When the Divine Artist,
Paints the leaves of the trees,
Bright orange, lusty gold, and apple red.

His "painted leaves" of orange, gold and red,
Empower us to embrace
Each new and challenging day.
Encourage our body, minds, and souls,
And become the "lifter up" of our weary heads.

Finger painting is child's play,
Except when the Divine Artist is in charge.
Through the careful work of His fingers,
He paints the autumn leaves -- orange, gold and red,
Like the Master-Potter shapes His moist clay.

Thank You, Divine Artist,
For painting the leaves of our trees.
Your extraordinary mix of vivid colors
Brightens our black and white, ordinary days,
And sets our earth-bound spirits -- heavenly free!
