An Innocent Sea
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By George David Denson
Other Poems by George David Denson

It was not a bright shining star,
Nor a shepherd visited manger scene;
This Christmas it was a violent earthquake,
And a confused, out of control, roaring sea.
Empowered by a shuttle launching force,
Not common to the unsuspecting sea;
Tens of thousands of lives were ended,
Like a thrown away Christmas tree.
Life is far more valuable than being destroyed
By a watching heaven, an angry earth, or an innocent sea;
Such an act of God or possible mistake of man,
Causes us all -- to soulfully reflect
And to our Christmas Savior humbly bow our knees!

Where was our beloved Savior as mother nature
Rocked, rolled, and flooded both land and sea;
His seemingly absence at this Christmas time,
Changing our Christmas lights into darkness,
Our celebration into an unwelcome mourning,
Is a reminder that life is a gift from God,
Empowered, in times of light and darkness,
Life and death -- By our own hearts of love,
Which like Job's, must always trust and ever believe.
