NO ROOM for the Ten Commandments
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By George David Denson
Other Poems by George David Denson

Our jails are overcrowdedly filled,
But no room for The Ten Commandments
in our everyday lives still.

Our schools have high-tech metal detectors,
However, there is no room for The Ten Commandments
in the mind and heart of the state educated secular.

Our cities and small towns are full of crime,
Yet, no room for The Ten Commndments
in our daily entertaining lives of prime time.

Fear of terror in our head and our heart,
Still, no room for The Ten Commandments
on the Supreme Court's agenda chart.

More than fifty perscent of our marriages dissolved every year,
Don't think though, that there is room for The Ten
Commandments, despite the flood of shedding tears.

Tragedy of rejection breeds seeds of envy and strife,
It doesn't matter, there still is no room
for The Ten Commandments in our Twenty First Century lives.

Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not covet,
Thou shalt not steal...
Acceptance of such truth for our troubled society,
would provide for our social problems,
a powerful cure for our land to be healed --
Yet, there is no room for The Ten Commandments
in our Twenty First Century lives still!
