Autumn Mourning

Autumn Mourning

Autumn is supposed to be a time
of colorful leaves, pleasant days,
and cool evenings;
For our nation it has been a time
of sniper killings, a Senator killed
in a plane crash, Americans held hostage
over seas,

Sadly, Autumn has been a time of mourning!

In my own life, my father had brain surgery,
today is in a coma, my friends have been laid-off,
others have faced much adversity;
A Senator killed in a plane crash, terrorist
threats new and fearful, a nation preparing
for another gulf war,

Reluctantly, Autumn has become a time of mourning!

Autumn is supposed to be a time
of colorful leaves, pleasant days,
and cool evenings;
For our nation it must become a time
of soul searching, repentance, and
renewed trust in her God,

Otherwise, Autumn may continue to be
a time of mourning!
