War Clouds

War Clouds

Though the war with Iraq is being fought
in a hostile land far across the sea;
The dark clouds of a bloody war,
hang heavy over the heads and hearts
of people, like you and me.
Like storm clouds that threaten our safety
with lightning, damaging winds and flooding rains;
So do these fast moving war clouds,
thunder over our peaceful hearts and anxious minds,
with intensity much the same.

After a life-threatening storm,
the dark clouds break up -- the sun
shines brightly again;
Let us pray that these dust-filled war clouds,
will break up soon --
the thunder, the lightning,
the strong winds, and the heavy rains
will come to a quick end -- and a bright sun
will shine over our aching souls
and troubled spirits once again.
