Politicians talk past each other
More interested in votes than what is right
Promises made that cannot be kept
But their office staffs do wonders
On the telephone

Statesmen, on the other hand,
Strive for the right
For solid compromise
Listen to dissent, the opposition,
Their office staffs also do wonders
On the telephone

On the Telephone (c)2003 Quentin Clingerman
