The Snow of Advent
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By Quentin Clingerman
Other Poems by Quentin Clingerman

Falling downward, spreading whiteness over the earth
Misty eyes view the Snow of Eternity
Brilliance incomparable, black cauldrons spew forth
molten metal
Blazing coals reflect from the Snow in heart red
flashes

"Forgive us Lord our sins, for they are many."

A fountain of crystal clear water sprays and shatters into
icy shards
Piercing the heart; the blood flows dark red to mantle
the earth
Blackened boots slush through the blood as though in
a hurry
Streams of blood fall through mountain passes swallowed
by the incandescent whiteness

"May my sins be cleansed with hyssop, though crimson, be made white as snow."

Shepherds, watching their sheep, heard the message long ago
Kings and wisemen, earthen gifts of clay
Broad is the way to destruction
Gentle animals lay beside Him

"Forgive us Lord our sins, for they are many."

Snow of Eternity views with sleepless watch
The earth turns red with crimson
Molten earth spews forth from mountain tops
Flows fiery red over glistening trees

"Cleanse us and we shall be clean, wash us and we shall be white as snow."

From a gentle manger, whispers of love echo through the valleys
To the crest of Golgotha; Love in spectacular bursts
of darkness and mayhem
Tore away the curtain, made clear the view
Snow of Eternity in brilliance does display

"May our robes be of righteousness, our path be the narrow way, through the gate called Straight."
