What Is It?

What Is It?

Growing alone three stalks

From bulbs or seeds or?

Two bubs have been growing

Now big and showing a bit of color

But not yet in bloom

What is it that has taken so long

A type of lilly I suspect

Something I planted and forgot?

Trying to be patient 'til the bloom

opens to reveal its beauty

Last year three plants grew there

But something cut them off

No buds formed.

Two  have made it thus far

I  hold my breath

Awaiting the opened flowers

What can it be?

What can it be?

What Is It?  (c)2014 Quentin Clingerman
