Just Passing Through

Jesus said it over and over
In various ways and places
His followers are not of this world
Our stay here most temporary

Thus are we to live
So setting our minds and hearts
On our eternal home
This world a fading story

How long we live
Or where or how
Matters little for eternity
As long as in obedience and love

Striving to serve our loving Lord
Who set the way before us
Serving also those around us
Seeing Jesus in them

Our allegiance first and foremost
To the Kingdom of God
Ambassadors of the King of Kings,
The Lord of Lords

Looking to please Him
In love and submission
Devotedly serving with all we have and are

Just passing through
Giving, and sharing, and helping
Contented to be only in His favor
Until our journey ends

The Court of Heaven will open
Letting the wayfaring pilgrim in
