The Gates of Hell

For whom the bell tolls
fits so well these days I think
As our government in solemnity
commemorates

For a few days we'll all join our
voices in sober reflection
On that horrendous day in September
When all Hell broke loose

From the bowels of wanton hatred
Gushed forth a flow of putrid rot
That inundated our world

Its fetid odor still permeates
Our national persona
All terrorists from the Gaza to Baghdad
are persona non grata

For whom the bell tolls
It tolls for those lost in innocence
Those lost in heroic effort

For those who love the sound of
freedom's ring
Whose lives are given a willing sacrifice
That this land may ever with freedom sing

That against freedom the gates of Hell
shall not prevail
